Omni Netherland Plaza

Cincinnati, OH

The original hotel was constructed in 1927 and finished in 1930 and designed by W.W. Ahlschiager & Aldrich. Omni Hotels took over the project and our task was to compile a complete master plan of the complex to bring the functional workings to contemporary standards and needs.

The Carew Tower (part of the complex) was envisioned as a “city within a city” and was fashioned after Rockefeller Center in New York. The distinct French Deco architecture is reflected throughout the buildings with particular emphasis on the interior of the hotel’s reception and dining facility. It was added to the register of National Hotel Landmarks in 1994.

As part of the master plan a renovation program was established to move forward in phased completion. Work included upgrading all the interiors including all public spaces and design of several room type packages.
