Sinan Hotel and Conference Center

Sinan, Turkey (Iskenderun)

Sinan Hotel (Brand TBD) is a part of a planned new city on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. This new endeavor is part of a designated “trade free zone” which will eventually house 200,00 residents, multiple trade/dockage facilities, hotels, offices, residential enclaves, extensive exhibition centers and enhances convention satellite spaces.

Part of this new master plan will place one third of the city in the water adjacent to the city hub.  This “floating” intervention creates a new approach to urban design and also frees up shoreline for expandable dockage requirements. This “BLULAND” will be Phase One in combination with necessary land counterparts. Phase Two will introduce four towers which define a central courtyard and perimeter, and meeting exhibit spaces. Two smaller towers will allocate core office space, while the two larger towers will house hotel and hotel related condominiums. The distinct tower shape draws its influence from a ship’s “hull” and equally pays direct tribute to its ship-filled seaside travel zone.

Fronting all Phase One will be three large inverted shells with abstract sails (solar collectors).  These stylized shapes pay tribute to outward hull construction of ancient maritime ships. In programming overview, these buildings will house large exhibition spaces, arena and meeting space flex programming.

Note: Sinan City is named after the chief Ottoman architect and civil engineer, Mimar Sinan, (1488-1588).  He was the royal architect for three Sultan’s building programs, some of Turkey’s grandest structures including Suleymaniua Mosque in Istanbul.
